Senior Engineer

The AMEA process team delivers technical solutions to support AMEA Technology Platforms within the chocolate category. The focus is to develop solutions for products that will be launched in the future. This role would focus on chocolate process technology implementation within the AMEA region.

Independent lead or participation in execution of various project types, either large scale complex projects in parallel but with phased deadlines, or, medium sized key RD&Q projects / activities with 2-3 interfaces outside RD&Q / supports 2-3 RD&Q projects. Projects can vary from research, analysis, bench-top scale, through to plant trials and commercialisation.

Role purpose

  • Ensures consistency, technical precision and compliance with methods of work. Recommends improvements within department
  • Responsibility/ measurements individual results/performance, but may also include team goals
  • Mostly independent interpretation of data to deliver results and draw key business relevant conclusions
  • Effectively structures and presents status updates / proposals to influence partners or share with higher management (up to and including Director-level)
  • Awareness of business partners with existing network/ ability and focus on network-building
  • Requires minimum coaching of direct manager on complex activities, especially business-related topics or new technical knowledge. Is used to remote management and remote WOW
  • Trains others within department on range of topics within own scientific discipline. Acts as a subject matter expert for supporting any technical challenges outside the department and encourages good cross-category technical exchanges such as Gum and Candy and Biscuit
  • Strong technical network within and outside the category and across functions such as Marketing, Procurement, Operations, Corporate Quality, etc., is established
  • Conducts relevant legal compliance checks and nutritional profiling and generates IDF’s from IP searches (as applicable) an independent manner

Requirements

  • Degree level or BS/MS/PhD in target discipline or technical/vocational training
  • Fluency in English
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of category regarding raw materials, processing, manufacturing and formulation fundamentals for costs
  • Demonstrates understanding of the impact of formulation and/or process changes on product characteristics
  • Independent lead/organizing/running research / commercialization of a product/process is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills, including time management and priority setting
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems independent
  • Strong project management skills (including project plans, updates, flagging derailers on time, etc.)
  • Interpersonal savvy – able to adapt personal style to work in international environment
  • Excellent presentation and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated experiences of practical application of theory in Food or engineering / scientific related discipline
